The predecessor of the magazine "Diamond and Abrasives Engineering" was the "Experience Exchange" published by the Second Bureau of the First Ministry of Machinery and was first published in July 1959. Publication ceased during the Cultural Revolution. After approval by the ministry and bureau, "Science and Technology Briefing" was published in 1970, "Synthetic Diamond" in 1973, and "Grinding Wheel" in 1976, all of which were internal publications. In 1979, the publication of "Synthetic Diamond and Grinding Wheel" was approved by the State Science and Technology Commission. In 1981, it was renamed "Abrasives and Grinding" with the approval of the Ministry of Machinery. It has been publicly distributed at home and abroad since 1987. In 1995, it was renamed "Diamond and Abrasives Engineering" magazine.
